Basketball is the king of sports in the Philippines! They love it!
Every summer the youth ministry of EBC offers basketball clinics and uses the eagerness of boys from 10-14 to also present the gospel. Every boys knows that the clinics are led by Emmanuel Baptist Church and that there will be testimonies and teaching at breaks. But, they also know EBC loves basketball and loves the boys as well. We started out with about 30 boys, but the very next clinic that number swelled to 80+ because of the enthusiasm and spread of the news about the clinics. Of course there are numerous drills, but that's to be expected. Yet, they also know there will be scrimmages and a huge tournament of teams at the end. Robert lends his coaching skills and referees. Leaders from EBC, especially EBC youth leaders, lead all aspects of the Basketball Clinic Outreach. Everyone participating has now heard the good news by way of testimony and devotions from God's Word. Numerous boys have professed their desire to know more about Christ. We would ask you to pray for these boys. Most of them are Catholic and have either never understood or even heard the true gospel as it is presented in God's Word. Pray too for the leaders of the clinics as well. |
