The seminarians Robert equips and mentors at Baptist Bible Seminary & Institute are training for their calling to serve with excellence.

BBS&I was established in the early 1930s by ABWE following the vision of Dr. Rafael Thomas. Dr. Thomas was a medical missionary who was committed to church planting and the training of nationals along for accomplishing that work.  

After WW2 and in the 1950s, the seminary came to be located at its present location in East Manila.  In due course, ABWE finished the transition of handing over the seminary to mostly Filipino leadership.  ABWE continued to provide missionaries for theological education and mentoring.

Robert has been tasked to work along the pastoral ministry department to help shape men and women for ministry. These are usually 3rd and 4th year students who upon graduation will serve in local church internships throughout the Philippines, Asia and around the world, then in full-time ministry positions.  

Robert teaches and mentors students through 26 different courses according to the need of each semester and in the partnership with the seminary's Pastoral Ministry Department:

Robert also represents ABWE's continuing partnership as a voting member on the seminary's Board of Trustees .  

Present Prayer Items
  • Pray - For the Lord to use Robert through his online courses as to teach and equip students even from California. Presently, he is teaching Historical Theology, Contemporary Theology and Baptist History & Distinctives and preparing for a new course 2025  called "The Gospels" and the "Book of Revelation" course.

  • Pray for Robert in his new role as a BBSI board member.  Pray for the board as they work together to move past the loss of three key board/faculty members in 2020, which will be a difficult thing as they were so integral to the seminary's future endeavors.
 
  • Praise & Prayer - Our new president, Dr. David Sera-Josef who, along with seminary's Board of Trustees, are pressing forward with initiatives and on-campus building renovation projects. Plus the development of a new relationship with a partnering church, Chapel Pointe Church from Michigan.
 
  •  Pray for the students to be diligent in their studies and committed to the preaching and teaching of the inerrant Word of God and learning how to use God's Word to solve common church issues.

Peers + Training
Students at BBS&I obtain up to a  Biblical Theology Degree and then enter a year-long internship at either their home church or another in the Philippines.  Some now are going abroad into Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.) and the world (Canada, South America and Israel to name a few)!
Robert spends time with interested students outside of class, usually over coffee, to talk about their walk of faith in ministry, practical theology issues and personal concerns
Certain classes afford the opportunity to weave into the curriculum times of peer mentoring.  This gives students time to work on assignments,  as he monitors the groups.
